Pursuant to DepED Regional Memorandum No, 94 s2017, dated Oct. 3, 2017, the first DEPED Region V ICT Summit 2017 was held at the Legazpi City.
The main project of the said summit was the recognition of the best ICT project in the region. Prior to this was the holding of the screening on ICT Best Innovation last October 20, 2017. The said screening included two categories such as the ICT for Teaching and Learning and ICT for Governance.
The participants to this regional event were Schools Division Superintendents, Division ITO, CID Chiefs, School Heads, School ICT Coordinators and teachers awarded the ICT Best Innovators Awards in the Division.
The awarding ceremonies was held last October 8-9, 2017 at the Casablanca Hotel, Peñafrancia St., Legazpi City. On October 8 was the opening ceremonies where there was the welcome address by Engr. Ronald Asis, messages from Legazpi Mayor Hon. Rosal and Asst. Regional Director Tolentino Aquino.
There were also keynote addresses by Joel Balasta (Education Technologies Feasible in the Philippines) and Engr. Antonio Bonganay (DICT Plans and Projects for Government).
What was somehow unique in the said event was the People’s Choice Award where the participants cast their votes.
The second day was the presentation of the ICT Innovations for Teaching and Learning and ICT Innovations for Governance, coupled with keynote addresses by Ricardo Tejeresas (Digital Citizenship and Data Privacy) and Gerard Atienza (Technologies for the Classroom).
The awards included Best ICT Innovations, Peoples’ Choice, Regional Booth, Regional Finalist. The best ICT Innovation went to the Division of Naga City which prize consisted of a trophy.
