Executive Order No. 26 and DepEd Memo No 58 s. 2011 encourages
government personnel to take an active part in keeping Earth Clean and Green. Also,
the Implementing Rules and Regulations of Republic Act 10533, particularly Rule III.,
Section 10.2 (d) and (h) provides, “the curriculum shall be contextualized and localized”
With this, the AP teachers with over-all coordinator – Marilyn E. Nebreja of
Tabuco Central School, in partnership with Metro Naga Water District through Engr.
Virgilio Luansing, and Mayor John Bongat of LGU Naga, had conducted an
Environmental Forum for the Protection and Preservation of Mt. Isarog Watershed and
Tree Planting Activity.
The lecture-forum focuses on the status of the local watershed and the initiatives
of the local government and other agencies to preserve and protect the resources. The
tree planting was conducted at Mt. Isarog Watershed area while the forum was held at
residence of Mr. Rolando Cruzata of Barangay Panicuason, Naga City, last June 16,
2018. The speakers were Mr. Ariel S. Esteban, Community Relations Assistant and
Pedro Palma, Jr., Forestry Assistant.
The activity was intended to capacitate teachers on the endemic flora and fauna,
status of the local watershed and the initiatives of the local government and other agencies to
preserve and protect the resources, strengthen AP teacher’s commitment to protect the
environment through community involvement and use the acquired information and experiences
in enriching contextualization and localization.
