The vision of TRANSFORM-NAGA took a big leap in the third quarter of this calendar year 2019-2020 in mainstreaming the Gender and Development agenda. On July 29, 2019, GADzette (coined from “Gender and Development Gazette”) was launched in a simple program held at the SDO Conference Room, led by Schools Division Superintendent William E. Gando, CESO VI, SGOD Chief Renato L. Gavino and other Division officials, alongside the SDO personnel. GADzette is the Division magazine that shall advocate for and promote gender-responsive activities, programs and policies in all public elementary and secondary schools in Naga City and highlight SDO-Naga’s achievements. Its launching comes after a two-year journey of conceptualization and planning spearheaded by HRD Section Head SEPS Michael del Rosario, who was responsible for its inception in 2017 together with then EPS II Michael Basister.
The Editorial Staff is headed by EPS for English Honesto M. Pesimo, Jr. as Editor-in-Chief, and EPS for Filipino Anna Liza F. Abuloc as Associate Editor. The maiden issue cites the division’s accomplishments of the previous year and gives shape and voice to the thoughts of teachers and non-teaching personnel on gender and spirituality.
Through GADzette’s bi-annual publication, SDO-Naga envisions stronger efforts towards 1) accelerating the mainstreaming of Gender and Development; 2) stimulating discussions on GAD issues and concerns, and 3) engaging stakeholders in an exchange of reflection and dialogue on the goals of TRANSFORM-Naga. – Antonette C.
