On November 19, 2018, at 4:00 pm, the Technical Working Group (TWG) for 2018 TIP held the pre-implementation meeting for the conduct of the 2018 Teachers Induction Program. As approved by the Schools Division Superintendent (SDS), William E. Gando, and with the support of the school heads, district supervisors and all others concerned, the TWG who are the participants in the recently conducted Regional TIP spearheaded the implementation this 2018 Division TIP.

With an expected 236 newly hired teachers, speakers, program and district supervisors, DepEd officials, and other staff assisting the program making a total of 280 participants, the 2018 TIP was successfully conducted at The Tent, Avenue Plaza Hotel, Naga City on November 25, 2018. Despite the fact that it was a Sunday, participants had made it up to the last hour of the activity to stay and learn the mechanisms of TIP and the systems in the Department of Education. The event started at 8:30 in the morning with an opening remark given by the CID Chief, Lynn Z. Padillo and an activity orientation was given by the HRD specialist and project manager Michael A. del Rosario. The main topics followed.

In his dream to make a difference in DepEd Naga and setting his vision in his leadership, the SDS William E. Gando, left a message on TRANSFORM Naga putting emphasis on its three waves. This year, the direction of SDO Naga is to ensure that all DepEd Naga personnel will at least attend a training that will capacitate them in the performance of their duty so as to contribute to the attainment of Division objectives. Afterward, Chief Renato L. Gavino conducted the orientation on the use of the TIP modules.

The stories of success as teachers were emphatically shared by the two esteemed chiefs of the CID and SGOD concerns urging teachers to commit themselves wholeheartedly in this noble profession. Then, concerns on benefits, duties, and responsibilities were discussed through a talk show dubbed as ‘kapihan sa TIP’ where queries and clarifications were raised and answered the resource speakers, namely, Resurreccion A. Bulaong of GSIS, Jessica Cielo T. Cainto of PAG-IBIG Fund, Al Enrique B. Delos Santos of PhilHealth. Topics on financial literacy were also delivered by the Division Coordinator for Personal Finance for Mentors (PerForM), Corazon Fatima A. Silerio; administrative concerns were presented by AO V, Mary Ann B. Rosauro; Chief Lynn Z. Padillo and Chief Renato L. Gavino showcased the CID and SGOD structures respectively. The participants were satisfied with the information shared by the resource persons from DepEd and other representatives from other government agencies.

In the afternoon, the stories of key personnel in the schools and division office were also heard. Sharers were coming from the different strata in DepEd such as Master Teacher (Ruby Bausas), Teacher Leader (Alberto Juntado), Principal (Sonia Teran), PSDS (Teresita Irma S. Dy-Cok), EPS (Belen Q. Lurcha), Chief ES (Renato L. Gavino). Participants were immersed in the real-life experiences of public school teachers in DepEd Naga. The stories of the sharers vary based on the life situation they were in and the circumstances they encountered. As a whole, one common reminder to the teachers based on the experiences of the sharers are the habits of persevering in their work and always aiming for the best. Mediocrity has no place in the life of a good and inspiring teacher as emphasized by Dr. Teran.

The event was culminated with impressions from the participants citing their gratitude being part of the activity especially the venue and the style of the program. Chief. Gavino raised the challenge to the teachers and selected representatives led the acceptance of the challenge. The hosts, Ms. Mary Ann Luneta, and Jerry E. Cortas led the closing song that sealed the activity with the hope that teachers will have a deeper commitment in their chosen profession. 2018 TIP ended the 2018 TIP at 5:10 pm.
